This is the page that will tell you all about how to hire our intimate 40-seater venue! This is the perfect space for small performances, scratch nights, open mics or comedy nights where you want a central venue that you can have control over!
From September 2025 this venue will be available to hire, both to our EAS members an outside hire. Equipped with sound and lights, this is a fully curtained and accessible theatre space.

RATES AND DETAILS OF HIRE
BLACK BOX THEATRE:
Capacity: 40
Proposed Ticket Price: £11.00 plus booking fee (set by Summerhall Arts)
(any proposed increase is this ticket price must be discussed and agreed with EAS)
Ticket system and ticket links will be dealt by Summerhall Arts through their in house booking service.
Any comps/production or press tickets must be agreed prior to shows going on sale and does not affect EAS guarantee fee nored below.
Access: 8 hours (tech/dress/placement plus show). In the event of more than 1 performance per night/per booking – hours can be discussed
ARTIST & VENUE AGREEMENT:
EAS will operate a 50/50 split with artists/productions.
(with a minimum guarantee of £200 in ticket fees to cover venue hire & use of lights/sound and dressing room area)
£1.00 from every ticket to Summerhall Arts.
WHAT NEEDS TO BE SUPPLIED:
Production must include 2 FOH team members and 1 person to operate sound/lighting.
These people must be available at the start of booking day (or prior if there is showround) to
go through all operations (fire evac, health & safety, customer journey, venue protocols and
EAS standards, understanding the tech system and operating safely and within guidelines).
